As part of Roehampton Community Week 2026, SEN Unity brought together ten children and young people aged 5–16 from the Roehampton community for a truly memorable intergenerational evening at Lyle House Care Home. After delivering a sports session at Roehampton University and walking together to the care home, the group was warmly welcomed by residents and staff and treated to a special screening of Disney’s Partly Cloudy in the home’s bespoke cinema room, complete with popcorn, crisps and juice.

While the film was enjoyed by all, the real magic of the evening happened afterwards, as children and residents shared conversations, laughter and genuine moments of connection. A particularly touching exchange with Sheila, one of the residents, left such an impression that the children promised to return for another visit. The event beautifully demonstrated how bringing generations together can build friendships, reduce isolation, strengthen community bonds and create lasting memories for both young and older residents alike.
